Northshore Rd, Lake Whatcom - 1-20-2024 After subzero temperatures the week before, snow and ice descended on Bellingham and the surrounding cities last Tuesday evening, creating dangerous road conditions that led to many accidents and injuries. But thanks to our county snow plow and sanding trucks diligently plowing and sanding our roads, and making them safe, many more accidents were prevented. But even they aren't immune to the dangers of snow, ice and black ice.
On Saturday as one was plowing the 2600 block of Northshore Rd, it slid into the ditch, posted Neighbor Carol on Nextdoor: "1-20-2024 Update on road conditions on 2600 block of Northshore Rd. Snow plow/sanding truck slides on ice into the ditch. A big THANK YOU to all the Whatcom County Public Works women and men working to remove snow and sand our roads. You all rock and so does that awesome big rig tow truck operator!!! The good news is, after the truck was pulled out of the ditch they continued on with their job sanding and removing ice/snow on Northshore Rd." Now that's the spirit, thanks Carol for sharing your post and pictures, but especially all those brave snow plow and sanding operators who work all hours keeping our roads safe, averting accidents, injuries and deaths.
